Second round of climbing

Climbing again!

Read carefully – depending on your AGE you will be doing different things!

We have a large troop of 33 scouts. It is impractical and unsafe to take over 30 out climbing at the same time. Tried and tested over the last few years, the leaders split the scouts into two ability/age groups over two weeks as follows:

Tuesday 7th July: Scouts aged 10 and 11 to attend. Please bring your scout notebook, a pen and a pencil. 12, 13 and 14 yr olds to have the night off.

Tuesday 14th July: Scouts aged 12, 13 and 14 to attend. Please bring your scout notebook, a pen and a pencil. We will be climbing more challenging routes and I have some interesting ones ready for you. 10 and 11 yr olds to have the night off.

I am flexible with regard to who attends which night. For example, 11 yr olds who are confident climbers may attend on the 14th, and 13 yr olds who are less confident and want to climb easier routes can attend the 7th. Just text and ask me first.

For each night:

We’re meeting at Burbage North car park at 6:30pm, which is the first car park / climbing area as you head out into the Peak on Ringinglow Road. We will walk in at 6:45pm. It is a short easy walk in compared with Stanage. Pick up is at 9:15pm.

Others things to think about bringing:

  • Small rucksack, waterproofs, sun cream, midge cream/spray, rock boots if you have them (because climbing in trainers is no-where near as good). Water. Food.
If the weather looks dodgy, please still drive out because we can turn the climbing into abseiling or even go for a hike if it is too wet to climb. Be prepared!

See you there!
